Pre-Kindergarten
Early Educational Opportunities at Ralls ISD
In 1998 Ralls ISD realized that there was a lack of school readiness opportunities for the 3 and 4 year olds of Ralls, so district implemented An Early Childhood Education Program to meet the needs of the community. Pre-Kindergarten had previously been available only for qualifying students and for half a day. The district has made the Pre-Kindergarten program available for all students in the district. The four-year old program is a full day, academic prekindergarten where students develop the necessary readiness skills for reading, writing, and math. The district supports a program for all three-year olds, which focuses on school readiness. The program is a half-day program and is housed at Ralls Elementary and operates on the regular school calendar. The Early Childhood Program has been very successful and is one of the reasons that Ralls Elementary continues to experience academic success.
“Strong prekindergarten programs help get at-risk children off to a good start and improve their chances for success throughout their school career. This certification can be used by parents to quickly identify programs that are effectively preparing children for kindergarten,” said Texas Commissioner of Education Robert Scott.
Ralls ISD is very proud of this honor and will continue to provide a quality, academically based Pre-Kindergarten.
